The Convictions of Worshippers

Yet again, yesterday a gunman opened fire in a house of worship.  The gunman shot two worshippers before himself being shot by the church's head of security, a reserve officer who was carrying a concealed weapon.  The entire incident, while tragic, lasted only 6 seconds.  Any longer, and the tragedy would undoubtedly have been worse.

Increasingly, worshippers of all faiths are having their sanctuaries attacked.  Here in the United States, a country founded on freedom from religious persecution, we are no less vulnerable from armed attack in our most hallowed places.  And specifically outside of Texas, where this particular church benefitted from a newly-passed law that allows for carrying of weapons within a place of worship, that vulnerability is amplified.  The only answer is armed security to respond to such an attack.
